Kateřina Cabalková

I hold full accreditation as a therapist, providing support to individuals, couples, and families. I am an active member of the Czech Society of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (KBT) and carry accreditation as a family therapist with the Society of Family and Systemic Therapists. My practice is characterized by an integrative approach, combining multiple therapeutic methodologies to best address the unique needs of my clients.

I am fascinated by self-discovery

My academic background includes the study of Social Policy and Social Work at Charles University, where I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree. During my academic journey, my fascination with self-awareness and the well-being of students led to the establishment of the Hybernská Counseling Center within the Faculty of Philosophy at Charles University. I have undertaken training in Transformational Systemic Therapy under the guidance of the Society of Transformational Systemic Therapy V. Satirová CR, as well as training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy - British Isles DBT Training. I have also completed Basic Crisis Intervention training led by REMEDIUM Prague, along with Motivational Interviewing training led by PhDr. Jan Soukup, Ph.D. Additionally, I have participated in numerous smaller educational courses, experiential workshops, voluntary internships, seminars, and professional symposiums, all contributing to my diverse skill set and experience.

I am active in academic community

I hold membership in several professional organizations, including the Czech Association for Psychotherapy, the Society of Transformational Systemic Therapy V. Satirová ČR, and SOFT | Society of Family and Systemic Therapists, where I have achieved accreditation as a family therapist. I am also a full member of the Czech Society for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and I actively contribute to the establishment of the new Dialectical Behavior Therapy section within the society.

I work with individuals, couples, and families

My inclination toward embracing diversity is reflected in my multifaceted therapeutic journey. I possess training in systemic therapy, as well as expertise in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which expands upon the principles of cognitive-behavioral therapy.  My professional experience extends to social and educational services, such as working with individuals managing Borderline Personality Disorder at the DBT center of the organization Kaleidoskop and serving as a therapist in the Stop Violence project at the SOS center of the organization Diakonie. Additionally, I have offered educational and therapeutic support to students at Charles University, contributing to my diverse and enriching therapeutic experiences.

Principles of my therapeutic work

Therapy is suitable for everyone

In therapy, we can address anything that occupies your thoughts and causes discomfort in life. I collaborate with clients who value self-care and the exploration of their inner thoughts. Simultaneously, I work with individuals who are contending with specific challenges, working together to chart a path toward inner contentment and the development of skills that enable them to fully engage with life.

Autenticity of the therapist and client

The therapeutic relationship is among the most intimate connections we can form. It is of great importance to me that both the client and I feel at ease and are able to express ourselves openly within this space. In my therapeutic practice, I take pleasure in employing metaphors, analogies, and even humor to facilitate a more productive and comfortable atmosphere.

We are doing our best in the present moment

In therapy, I embrace a collaborative and non-judgmental stance. I hold the belief that each individual possesses the inner strength to confront their challenges, although there are moments when they require an external perspective, support during difficult life phases, or simply a compassionate ear. I believe that the more we understand ourselves, the more adeptly we can navigate our lives and foster relationships that offer a sense of belonging, support, and freedom.

I work experientially

I approach therapy experientially, recognizing that at times, mere words may not suffice or may not be readily accessible to articulate one's inner experiences. With mutual agreement between the client and myself, I find value in working with the representation of these inner experiences through objects, drawings, or body-focused techniques to enhance our therapeutic journey.
